Brenda Jackson lives in Lynchburg and has resided at her present home for 15 years. She currently provides direct care to individuals in a group home setting. She has over 25 years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Brenda is a single provider and has three certified backup workers to provide additional supports in this service when needed.

 

She is interested in providing supports for a male or a female in all daily living skills. Some of these areas include supports with bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, cooking, and laundry. Brenda also provides supports with communication skills and money management in addition to many other areas.

 

An individual in Brenda’s service will have access to many community activities. Brenda enjoys going to various area events as well as taking day trips and overnight trips out of town. Some of the activities she enjoys are going to fairs, attending plays and concerts, and attending dances. Brenda also offers the opportunity for an individual in her service to participate in the Challenged Sports Exchange as well as many other community programs.

Constance Brown lives in a quiet neighborhood close to the Lynchburg Regional Airport. She is less than two minutes away from the Wards Road shopping district where there are plenty of stores and restaurants to visit. Her four bedroom, two bath home is very comfortable and welcoming. The home has a full basement with an additional bedroom and activity room and a backyard that is inviting on warm days. This service provides a loving and caring environment to anyone in this home.

 

Constance has 30 years of extensive experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. She worked for the Central Virginia Training Center for approximately 20 years and the Central Virginia Community Services Board for 10 years prior to becoming a provider with Wall Residences. She is currently supporting an individual and she is seeking another ambulatory individual that she can share her home with.

 

Constance is able to assist with proper hygiene care, communication, finance management and transportation for daily activities including day support and doctor appointments. She is active in her church community and enjoys going on vacations including her annual Shenandoah Valley Cabin trip in Gordonsville, Virginia. Constance and the individual in her service enjoy horseback riding, fishing, and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Constance shows genuine compassion and caring for the individuals she has supported throughout her career in human services. She hopes to meet you soon!

 

Hester Bruce  -  Lynchburg

The Bruce home is located in Bedford County, but is only minutes away from many community activities.  Hester Bruce resides in the home along with her husband and one individual who Hester has supported for many years. The home is a split-level home with three bedrooms, three full baths, living room, dining room, den, and kitchen.  An individual for this service will need to be mobile since there are stairs in the home.  The rear of the home has a nice deck and yard available for cookouts or other outdoor gatherings.  There is a family dog that has his own house and his personal space in the yard.

 

Hester has a master’s degree in education with a concentration in learning behaviors and intellectual disabilities. She has over eighteen years of experience working with individuals who are intellectually disabled and have behavioral challenges. Hester has also taught in the classroom, home, and community. She is a licensed Certified Prevention Professional- Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (CPP-ATOD). Hester volunteers at a local group home by providing training in functional skills related to use of community resources; assisting with housekeeping activities; assisting with personal care tasks with individuals who have physical limitations; providing close supervision with individuals who are non-verbal and ensuring the health, safety and welfare of individuals. Hester also enjoys researching, planning, and organizing monthly activities and events for her service based on the individual’s desires.  The Bruce family enjoys going to the movies, dining out, playing board and video games, shopping, walking, picnics, working in the yard, site-seeing on the parkway and in the country, socializing, attending community events such as church events, bowling, concerts, sports events, amusement parks, local parks, bus trips, weekend vacations, and taking annual vacations.

 

The Bruce’s are current and up-to-date with all Wall Residence required trainings and certifications. Their service has four certified backup workers available to allow for individualized support. The Bruce family is looking forward to welcoming another individual into their service.

 

Kendall & Roxanna Johnson  -  Elon

Kendall and Roxanna Johnson along with Madyson, one of their three children, reside at the foot of a mountain on 27 acres in Elon. Their two older children recently left the nest. Austin moved to Fairfax and Miranda lives in Lynchburg. Kendall has worked for Areva for the past 26 years; Roxanna has been a special education for the last 12 years.

 

The Johnson family is very active with local festivals, barbecues, canoeing, fishing, visiting the beach and going to the family lake house. Roxanna and the children have always traveled to zoos, museums, walking trails, and parks. Roxanna would love to add another member to the family that likes to get out and experience new adventures.

 

Their home offers a large open family room and kitchen, four bedrooms and bathrooms, and a loft and game room on the second level where your private bedroom and bathroom are located. (See pink and brown room below. If you have a different color preference you can work with the Johnsons to create a room to fit your personality.) Outside the home they have a covered front porch with wicker chairs for watching the sunrise and a large covered back porch complete with a bed for watching the sunset, grilling out, and relaxing. There is a patio, leading out of the basement, where they soak in the hot tub or sit by a fire. The house is three tenths of a mile off the paved road which provides a place for a stroll after dinner or to walk one of our three loving dogs.

 

Kendall and Roxanna will provide activities to stimulate growth and confidence while assisting with choices in grooming, dressing, meal preparation, community involvement, and financial management.

 

Sandra Galloway  -  Lynchburg

Sandra Galloway resides in a one level, three bedroom home approximately twelve minutes from Lynchburg and ten minutes from historic Appomattox. Emergency services are approximately five to ten minutes from the home. It is equipped with a handicapped accessible ramp for easy access to the home. There is also a large yard and a wonderful back deck where Sandra enjoys watching the sun rise and other outdoor activities including cookouts with family and friends.

 

Sandra has worked for five years as a backup worker through Wall Residences and one and a half years as a direct support professional at the Central Virginia Training Center. Her service offers many activities such as attending church, eating out, going to the movies, and shopping. She is also an active member of the American Legion where family and friends meet to picnic, swim, and fish. Sandra also enjoys Challenged Sports Exchange activities including eating out, shopping, and attending festivals.

 

Sandra is able to provide support during the day for individualized services including supports with domestic skills, opportunities for socialization, and community integration. If an individual prefers a formal day support program outside of the residential service, that is available as well.

 

Sandra would love to share her home with an individual. She has lived in the Lynchburg area for 35 years and has many friends and family who would welcome anyone who shares her home as part of the Galloway family.

 

Shelby & Billy Hughes  -  Rustburg

Shelby and Billy Hughes are eager to welcome a new member to the Hughes household. They live outside of Rustburg in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by the family farm making it peaceful yet it is only 10 minutes away from doctors, pharmacies, stores, and restaurants. They have a spacious yard with a pool and large deck for family fun and cookouts. The Hughes have raised two adult children who are married and have children of their own. They also have two dogs that love lap time, as well as a cat and a parrot that talks.

 

Shelby and Billy enjoy going to church on Sundays, bike riding and walking on the trails of Blackwater Creek, fishing, visiting Myrtle Beach and other fun places, and would like to share all of this with another family member.

 

The Hughes will provide training and assistance with day to day living such as cooking, laundry, household maintenance, communication, bathing, dressing and money management. Shelby worked for Central Virginia Training Center for four years and Billy was a medic in the Army.  The Hughes have also provided supports to an individual in their home and are looking forward to meeting another individual.

 

Tammy Hicks  -  Madison Heights

Tammy Hicks welcomes the opportunity to provide a caring, supportive and nurturing home for an individual. Tammy resides in a four bedroom, three-bath home on five acres in a private subdivision in Madison Heights. The area offers a quiet, peaceful setting, yet is only 10 minutes from medical offices, shopping, and restaurants.

 

Family and friends are very important to Tammy. She shares her home with her husband, who enjoys outdoor activities.  They have a 21-year-old son who lives in Lexington. He is employed full time and is a volunteer firefighter as well as an EMT.

 

Their family is very supportive and would love to open their home and hearts to assist an individual in achieving their personal best. Tammy’s mother, Sandra is a provider and once shared Tammy’s home along with the individual she serves.

 

Tammy has been a backup worker for several years and has the hands on experience of sharing her home on a daily basis with an individual requiring support. As a backup worker, Tammy enjoys spending time with those she supports. They enjoy attending community, and church functions as well as dining out, and other social activities. She also assists with their daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating, medications, and other services that are needed.

 

Tammy’s professional experience, along with her caring and compassionate attitude will contribute greatly in providing a healthy, happy home environment. Her home offers a safe, respectful, comfortable environment with a commitment to individual attention and emotional support.

Tony and Cindi Taylor currently serve one individual in their home and have one opening to serve an additional individual. The Taylors both have experience supporting individuals with disabilities through their work with Wall Residences and through their immediate family and friends.

 

The Taylors have two adult daughters and two beautiful granddaughters who are a central part of their lives. They would enjoy sharing their love, caring, and detailed support of everyday life with another individual. The Taylor's offer a supportive family atmosphere with a variety of community activities including church, visiting with friends, shopping, dining out, vacations, sporting activities, and volunteering in the community.

 

Tony and Cindi live in the Forest area in a very quiet and peaceful environment. They live in a quaint and comfortable home and look forward to inviting another individual into their daily lives. Their home is private yet it is centrally located to grocery stores, doctors’ offices, shopping, and many other community activities. They will personalize their service based on the individual’s needs and preferences.

Mark and Tracey Pugh would like the opportunity to provide a caring loving environment to an individual. For more than 13 years, they have resided in their three bedroom, two bath ranch home located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the Windsor Hills subdivision of Lynchburg. The main floor is an open concept that can accommodate an individual in need of mobility support, along with a full kitchen, living room, and dining area for entertaining. The lower level consists of a family room, laundry room, and master bedroom with a full bath. There is also a large patio leading to a level backyard where Mark and Tracey enjoy family games and cookouts. The home is conveniently located very close to the local shopping district and the church they attend weekly.

 

The Pughs have been married 25 years and have five grown children, and seven grandchildren. They enjoy family gatherings, cookouts, local festivals, mini-vacations, spending time with friends, renting or going to the movies, and home do it yourself projects. Tracey and Mark also really enjoy volunteer opportunities to minister through their local church’s food outreach project each year.

 

A Certified Medical Assistant since 2013, Tracey worked for a general family medical practice before becoming a backup worker with Wall Residences in March of 2014. Tracey has also provided care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. She has also completed the requirements for g-tube certification with Wall Residences. Mark currently works as a press operator for a company in Bedford, Virginia, where he has been employed for the past 33 years. He is looking forward to supporting Tracey in their endeavor as providers for Wall Residences.

 

Mark and Tracey are excited to provide a loving, nurturing environment for an individual. They are looking forward to promoting a high quality of life by teaching life skills in a stable home environment that is in a quiet and safe neighborhood.

The Gunter Home is licensed as a Group Home for four and currently has two vacancies.

 

Laura Gunter has been a Residential Service Provider for over eighteen years. Laura has a vast array of experience in working with  individuals with complex behavioral and medical needs. There are currently six Direct Support Professionals working in The Gunter Home full time, affording the opportunity to offer an array of individualized services such as participation in therapeutic horseback riding, a variety of community integration opportunities, and an annual vacation.

 

The service strives for independence and individual choice and the home offers plenty of personal space, as well as a patio and outside spaces to enjoy. The individuals living in the home enjoy going out to eat, going shopping, engaging in recreational activities, and socializing with their friends in the community.

Carol Cyrus has been a provider for five years and currently provides services to her adult daughter.  Carol, her husband, and daughter currently reside in a new home on 18 beautiful rustic acres in the Coleman Falls area. The Cyrus service has one opening for an individual who is looking to live in a country setting. The Cyrus family enjoys outdoor activities, gardening, camping and taking walks in the evenings. They also like dining out, shopping and taking vacations. Carol’s daughter is currently involved with Challenged Sports Exchange where she bowls, plays t-ball, fishes, line dances, and plays tennis. The Cyrus family would love to welcome a second individual into their active household.

Marvin and Debbie Boyette - Lynchburg

Marvin and Debbie Boyette have lived in their Amherst County home for 31 years.  It has three floors with four bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a kitchen, dining room, family room, large sunroom, finished basement with a family room, kitchenette, guest room, wraparound porch, 20x40 in-ground pool and a chicken coop, all with a country setting. They have three adult children who are married, one grandchild and one on the way.

 

The Boyettes have been residential providers with Wall Residences for 15 years.  Marvin retired from Columbia Gas of Virginia in 2012. He is gifted carpenter that builds furniture and countertops. He enjoys painting and playing the guitar for relaxation.  Debbie was a stay at home mom to their three children and loved every minute of it. Debbie enjoys cooking country foods, making homemade pickles, watching football and doting over members of the household. The Boyettes enjoy trips to the beach, movies, shopping, volunteering, church and family events.

 

The Boyettes currently assist two individual, a gentleman who joined their family 15 years ago and an awesome lady who moved into their home eight years ago. They have recently been approved to welcome another person into their home. The Boyette style of support is person centered and family based, emphasizing individuality, normalization, and inclusion. They encourage inclusion into the community as a natural way of life and to building on strengths. Everyone in their family unit is treated with upmost dignity and respect. They are welcoming the opportunity to invite another individual to become a member of their household.

Margaret & Keith Gale look forward to welcoming an individual into their Madison Heights home. The home is a three bedroom, one level ranch in a quiet neighborhood located within minutes of the rescue/fire department, physicians’ offices, pharmacies, shopping, restaurants and hospital. The Gales are recent empty nesters, with the exception of their dogs.

 

In addition to being a backup worker for Wall Residences for several years, Margaret has worked in customer service/human resources for over 25 years specializing in child safety and their growing needs. Margaret has had the opportunity to connect with various charities and organizations such as Make A Wish, Autism Speaks, Special Olympics, Differently-abled Campaigns, Alex's Lemonade Stand (childhood cancer) and Toys For Tots. In her management career, she found these events to be the most fulfilling and rewarding.

 

The Gales have an active lifestyle. They like to go on trips in their RV, cruises, festivals, fishing, taking the dogs on outings, beach trips, air shows and other community activities. They are looking to support an individual with all their daily tasks including personal care, cooking and medication administration. They provide a fun, loving, comfortable home to support an individual in their choice of activities and community involvement.

 

 

 

Wayne and Gloria Gorman - Campbell Co.

Wayne and Gloria Gorman live in a two-story home in Campbell County, Virginia, a suburb of Lynchburg. They have lived in their four-bedroom, three and half bathroom home for 17 years. There are two spacious sitting areas in the back of the house. One sitting area can be accessed from the living room and the second sitting area, is under the deck, which is accessed from the ground level. In the subdivision they live in, there is access to three lakes, tennis courts, fishing, and basketball courts. There are also areas to take long walks. On Sundays, Wayne and Gloria attend church and invite an individual in their service to attend as well if the individual desires.

 

Wayne and Gloria are currently looking for a male or female individual to support in their home. The individual will have their own room and bathroom on the ground level. This room can be decorated by the individual.

 

Gloria and Wayne have worked with individuals with disabilities for over 20 years in various settings. Gloria and Wayne enjoy several community activities in Lynchburg and the surrounding areas and will ensure that an individual in their service is provided the choice to explore community activities of interest and to participate in community activities as often as they desire. He or she will be welcomed with open arms into their home.

 

Bonnie and Allen Clendenin - Central Virginia area

Bonnie and Allen Clendenin live in a one-story ranch home that sits on a twelve-acre farm that is centrally located 20 minutes from Appomatox, AltaVista, Lynchburg, and Madison Heights.  In the last few years, they added two bedrooms to the home and recently prepared a room that is ready for a new resident to decorate as they wish.  The Clendenins have an above ground pool, a horseshoe game and basketball hoop for those who enjoy playing.  There is a designated smoking area on the front porch for those who smoke.

 

The farm currently consists of 3 horses, 2chickens,1 rooster and 10 guineas, a cat named Heather aka Precious, and a Border Collie named Molly.  Molly is very loveable and well behaved dog that loves to play ball.

 

Formal work/day support options are available for those who prefer it.  The Clendenins will provide daily activities, regular scheduled recreational/social activities,  opportunities to join the YMCA, and one week of summer camp for those who desire it.  Weekly trips for groceries and supplies, dining out, affordable movies and bowling, ad various community events will be part of our daily living. The Clendenins have various backup workers (both male and female) to allow individuals to have a change of face and provides and individual with more opportunities at or in the community.

 

The Clendenins have frequent cookout (grill or fire pit) and enjoy going to the pool, playing horseshoes, and going fishing.  They have three adult children and five grandchildren that live close by and come to the farm often for family cookout.  Family is very important to the Clendenins and they always have room for more family members.

 

Bonnie worked in Special Education for 12 years and has experience with disabilities and behaviors. Bonnie can assist with overcoming Type II diabetes and Seizures with the correct meds, diet and care.  Bonnie has had great success with helping individuals figure out what they want out of life and making it a reality.  Whether it's getting a job, day support, crafts, or just plain running the roads and exploring new things.

 

Brett and Sandi Johnson - Evington Virginia area

Brett and Sandi Johnson have one opening in their home located in Evington, about 10 minutes south of the airport in Lynchburg.  Their home has three levels.  The Johnsons are currently supporting three men in their home and would welcome the opportunity to support another individual. The Johnsons have highly trained staff employed in the service as well.

 

A referral for the Johnson service will have their own bedroom that can be decorated however they would like to match their personality.

 

The Johnsons enjoy being active in the greater community including going out to dinner, the movies, bowling, baseball games (Hillcats games and the provider’s niece and nephew’s games), and traveling among other activities.  The Johnson service also participates in Challenged Sport Exchange (CSE) events, as well as other arts and crafts.

The Johnsons are a fun and loving couple who enjoy traveling. They coordinate one or two vacations per year for the individuals in their service. Vacations have included the beach in the summer and Gatlinburg, TN in November to see the Christmas lights and to attend Christmas shows.

 

The Johnsons have several back up workers for their service that allow the individuals the choice of activities at home or in the community.  One of the Johnson’s back up workers is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The LPN is available to work weekly and help monitor individuals for any medical needs, and she is available if the Johnsons need to ask her any medical questions. The Johnsons and their back up workers are certified in G-Tube administration as well.

Dorsey and Barbara Bradshaw - Lynchburg area

Dorsey and Barbara Bradshaw currently support one individual in their home and have one opening to serve another person.  Barbara, who has worked in the field of supporting individuals with disabilities for over 30 years, spent 20 years at Central Virginia Training Center and supported other caregivers for 10 years. The individual currently in their home has resided with them for eight years.

 

The Bradshaws look forward to sharing their love, caring, and detailed support of everyday life with another individual.  They offer a supportive family atmosphere with a variety

of community activities including church and visiting family and friends. They live in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood and also enjoy shopping, dining out, and going on vacations. The Bradshaw’s home, while located in Lynchburg, has an atmosphere of country living and is very convenient to shopping, dining, medical professionals, and other locations.

 

The home has four bedrooms and three and a half baths. The Bradshaws will personalize services based on an individual’s needs.

Wanda and Gerald Cunningham - Madison Heights area

Wanda and Gerald Cunningham live on a quiet street located in Madison Heights, Virginia.  Their home has three bedrooms, two full baths, a fenced in swimming pool,  and a small fish pond.  Their home is not wheelchair accessible.

 

Wanda is currently providing direct care for one individual and is looking to open her home to one more person.  An individual in the Cunningham service will have their own room to decorate and a shared bathroom.  Wanda is interested in providing support in all aspects of daily living such as bathing, oral care, dressing, laundry, and money management.

 

Wanda, Gerald, and the gentleman she currently supports enjoy vacationing at the beach several times a year, sporting events, cookouts, visiting family and friends, and eating out at restaurants.  Wanda supports and transports the current individual into the community to places such as his day support program, the YMCA, out to eat, shopping, and any other place he desires.  Wanda is looking forward to supporting a second individual in her service.

Pam and Mark Turner - Amherst County area

Pam and Mark Turner reside in beautiful, rural Amherst County just moments from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Their home is warm and inviting with large, bright, and airy bedrooms. One of the three bathrooms on the main level has modifications for individuals who might have mobility issues. In addition, there is a ramp at the entrance to the home.

 

The Turner family is very active both at home and in the community. They enjoy going for walks and picnics on the parkway, fishing at the family pond and cabin, family gatherings, trips to the library, shopping, out to eat, the local safari and zoo, the local speedway, and drive-in movie theater. The Turner’s grow a garden each year and everyone is welcome to participate choosing what items to plant, and in harvesting and eating the produce. There is also time to sit and rock on the front porch and just relax.

 

The Turner home is in close proximity to Lynchburg which offers access to excellent medical services as well as various activities for disabled individuals such as day support programs and supported employment. Pam and Mark have over 28 years of combined experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Pam is a registered nurse in the state of Virginia. They currently support two individuals in their home and have one opening. Rahab Adams has been employed by CVTC as a Direct Support Professional for 8 years and she has also worked in a group home setting, where she has cared for children with disabilities. Rabah is a CNA and is a certified Medication Assistant. Rahab is a caring and calm person who likes gardening, church, and community activities.

 

Rahab and her mother, live with her 2 school aged children in their four bedroom, 3 full bath home, in a quiet neighborhood, which can be quickly accessed by community activities and hospitals. Rahab’s home has a game room, large back yard, where she enjoys working in the backyard, and having barbecues. The available bedroom will be decorated according to the person’s preference and is spacious enough for a full size bed, and plenty of room for storage. Rahab could support someone with mobility needs.

Dale and Angela Dowdy live in a quiet neighborhood in Amherst County.  Their home has four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and two half baths.  There is a nice size deck on the back to enjoy cookouts and relaxing.  The family room is spacious and is utilized for entertainment.  The individual who will reside in the home will have a private bedroom located on the 2nd floor and a shared bathroom.  The home is centrally located in Amherst County convenient to shopping, restaurants, sporting events, medical professionals, and fire/rescue services.

 

The Dowdy’s currently live in the home with two of their four children.  Their daughter, Ashtyn, is a current backup worker for Wall Residences.  She is certified in medication administration, CPR, and First Aid.  Their daughter, Autumn, is also certified in CPR and First Aid and currently works as a teacher in Elementary education. Their eldest daughter, son, and their granddaughter live in the Madison Heights area.  They have three pets who live indoors.  A boxer named Kershaw, shih-tzu named Millie and a cat, Mako.

 

Dale and Angela have both worked as back up support for individuals with disabilities since 2016.  They have enjoyed offering their services and are very excited to welcome someone into their home.  The service will include assisting with grooming, dressing, meal preparation, communication, financial management, and transportation for daily activities.  The individual will also have opportunities to enjoy the community pool, walks in the neighborhood, local festivals, dining out, sporting events, movies, trips to the beach and spending time with family and friends.  The Dowdy’s look forward to meeting you and sharing their home with you.

 

Jerry and Susan Cunningham - Madison Heights area

Jerry and Susan Cunningham reside in this four bedroom, 3 and 1/2 bath home, along with the two individuals that they currently support, and their two fur-babies, Izzie and Prada.  Jerry and Susan have two  grown children, Kenzie and Blaine,  that no longer reside in the home. This home is nestled amongst the woods and has so much privacy, yet is only one mile from route 29 in Madison Heights.

 

Susan is a veteran Special Education Teacher, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education and Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Instruction, and several endorsements, which include intellectual disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and a certificate in Autism. Susan is very active in her community and takes great pride in the busy service that she provides for the individuals currently residing in her service. Susan hosts several extended family get togethers throughout the year, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and numerous birthday parties. The individuals residing in the home participate in Day Support as well as a variety of community activities, and social gatherings. Susan provides transportation to and from day support, as well as the transportation for all social opportunities within the community.

 

Jerry is a Master Electrician and serves as a Superintendent for a local contractor. Jerry also provides supports and services to the individuals that reside in the home and enjoys participating in such activities as fishing, ball games, parties, yard work, and going out to eat with the family.

 

Jerry and Susan both take pride in the services that they provide for their individuals and would gladly welcome a third person to join their family.

 

Steve and Vickie Frazier - Lynchburg area

Steve and Vickie Frazier live in a suburb of Lynchburg, in the village of Rustburg, Va. Steve is a lifetime resident of Rustburg and knows most of the residents there. The Frazier’s have been valued Wall Residences providers since October of 2004. Prior to becoming a provider, Vickie worked as an administrator in a group home setting, for the City of Lynchburg. Vickie has over 35 years of experience working in residential settings. Steve formerly worked for UPS.

 

Steve and Vickie provide residential supports in their home that is licensed as a group home for four individuals. Their home is a large and newer farm house that was specifically built to support four individuals with intellectual disabilities or mental health support needs. For the individual who chooses this home, they will have a private bedroom and bathroom. The home is very spacious and has a welcoming feel. The house sits in a rural, park like setting, on three acres. Although it is a rural setting, the home is conveniently located about eight miles from Lynchburg, where there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and recreational activities! The town of Rustburg also offers some shopping opportunities as well as restaurants. Opportunities for day support are available, as the individual prefers. There are two hospitals about 15 minutes away.

 

The vacant bedroom and bathroom can be painted to a color the individual prefers. Furnishings are available if they are needed. This service is well staffed. Steve and Vickie also provide support services, and live in the home.

 

There is an opportunity for involvement in church services, with an active Sunday school class if an individual chooses this as well.

Phyllis Thompson - Madison Heights area

Phyllis Thompson resides in a one level, three-bedroom, handicap accessible home in Madison Heights. Phyllis’s home is approximately 10 minutes from Lynchburg, and fire and rescue services are approximately five minutes from her home.  Phyllis has over 15 years’ experience supporting individuals with complex medical needs, and for the past three years, she has provided backup support to individuals with behavioral support needs through Wall Residences. Phyllis is a single provider and has certified backup workers ready to provide additional supports when needed.

 

She is eager to provide individualized services to two individuals, including supports with all daily living skills, ambulation, domestic skills, meal preparation, hygiene care, personal finance, communication, community involvement, and transportation to all daily activities.

 

Phyllis enjoys going to local events, taking vacations with the individuals in her service, and going on day trips. The individuals will have opportunities to go on outings such as festivals, concerts, bowling, eating out, going to the movies, shopping, sporting events, and attending dances. Phyllis also has a large yard and back deck for hosting cookouts with family and friends. She is excited to provide individualized support in a loving and nurturing home.

Tina and George Davis - Appomattox area

Tina and George Davis would like to open their home to an individual and give them a respectful, safe, and happy home along with a warm family environment and the supports that are important for them to excel in the home and the community. Tina and George are full time providers and currently have one opening available. Tina worked at the Central Virginia Training Center for five years and has supported individuals in her home for four years. George has been a full-time provider for the past year and a half and has been full time backup support with Tina.     

 

Tina and George live in rural setting nine miles from historical Appomattox and 25 minutes from Lynchburg. They have three grown adult children, and four grandchildren. They live in a very safe, quiet, and scenic area. The home is situated on 38 acres with a large pond and there is a camper on site that is available for activities such as fishing, picnics, or just relaxing. There are many activities in the area including museums, parks, festivals, sporting events, movie theatres, bowling, shopping, restaurants, lakes and camping, and lots of local networking events.

Kim and Mike Story - Madison Heights area

Kim and Mike Story have three adult children and three grandchildren.  As a mother, Kim has gained the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a residential service with the appropriate patience, nurturing and care.  The family offers assistance and encouragement to the individuals they currently support, with lots of opportunity for self-expression. The family has a positive attitude and is comfortable with opening their home to individuals with intellectual disabilities.  The Storys have been residential service providers with Wall Residences for 10 years and have over 15 years of experience working with individuals with cognitive and medical disabilities. Kim has five years of medical experience including three years of nursing school and working in the medical field.

 

They live in a two-level home on three acres in a quiet neighborhood in Madison Heights. The home has numerous rooms with plenty of space to support individuals comfortably. The main level has one bedroom that offers privacy and comfort for one individual. There is a large yard with a fenced-in tennis court and pool. Nearby are shopping, dining, a library, churches, the YMCA, volunteer activities, and many other community activities.

 

The Story family is close-knit family and active in the community. They love animals and like taking vacations which include frequent trips to Smith Mountain Lake. Kim and Mike also enjoy family gatherings, attending sporting events, and church activities. An individual joining this active family atmosphere will have many opportunities to take part in activities in the community.  This service is person centered and family based, with a focus on each person’s individuality.

 

The Storys currently support two individuals and would like to welcome another individual into their home to become a member of their household. They look forward to meeting you.

Dwayne Banton - Concord area

The Banton home is a country residence located on a quiet 82-acre farm in the rural area of Concord, Virginia. It is a licensed group home that currently supports two individuals with one opening. There are two female residents that reside in the home.

 

Dwayne Banton has been a provider with Wall Residences since 2003. There are currently four certified back-up workers in the residence. The home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two bedrooms are located on the upper level. The available bedroom is on the main living level. The farm has cows, a horse, and chickens. There are two inside dogs that are very loving. The residence is within a short drive of the City of Lynchburg and town of Appomattox where many opportunities are available including restaurants, movies, shopping, and other activities. There are numerous State Parks located within minutes of the residence.

 

Each resident has their own room with satellite television decorated to their own individual tastes. The home is decorated with country décor. It has a large front porch with rocking chairs and a screened-in back porch overlooking rolling fields where residents can enjoy meals when the weather permits. There is a basketball goal for the resident’s recreational enjoyment.

Residents have the opportunity to participate in Challenged Sports Exchange as well as other community programs. Residents are offered day support where they are taken out into the community five days a week to enjoy activities of their choice.
