Derrick gained years of experience working with individuals with disabilities while working at a local group home. He was responsible for providing care and training to individuals in a congregate group home setting. He has experience working with individuals with both behavioral and medical support needs. Derrick also gained experience by supporting family members and friends with disabilities. Since working in a group home, it has been a goal of Derrick’s to provide a more person-centered experience for individuals with disabilities which brought him to Wall Residences.

He is a very outgoing individual. He loves to spend time cooking, weightlifting, watching basketball and football, keeping up with real estate, and participating in events and fundraisers that support education and awareness about Lupus in honor and memory of his wife. Derrick also volunteers in his community alongside his brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His caring heart and desire to help others was also evident by his countless hours of community service in the Richmond and Hampton Roads area.

Derrick is passionate about caring for others and feels that becoming a provider will give him more purpose at this point in his life by allowing him to provide a life individuals that is full of love, laughter and fun. He lives alone but enjoys hosting family and friends for barbecues and holiday gatherings.

Derrick lives in a four bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom home in the Magnolia Green neighborhood. The house has a large front yard, backyard, and basement. The front lawn is well maintained and there are a few steps leading up to the front door. Upon entering the home is a sitting room and a formal dining room that is used for holidays and special occasions. The kitchen has a large island and opens to the living room and seperate dining area. The living room has a gas fireplace and an office room off the back corner. Upstairs is the primary bedroom with an attached full bathroom, three large bedrooms, and a full bathroom located in the hallway. There is a laundry room upstairs as well.
