Angie Elcox has been a sponsored provider for Wall Residences for over a year. Prior to becoming a provider, she began working as a DSP at Central VA Training Center in 2003. She then transitioned to being a Group Home DSP and was the house manager there for 12 years. Angie was a backup worker for a provider who also supports individuals with ID/DD which sparked her interest in doing the same.

In observing the interactions with the individuals in her home, it is obvious that Angie offers a safe, nurturing environment that is based on mutual respect. She enjoys being involved in all aspects of family life including cooking and socializing as well as participating in community activities. Angie and those in her service enjoy trips to the beach, going to friends and family functions, shopping at a variety of stores including out-of-town trips to malls and galleries, as well as church events.

Angie resides with the one other individual she supports. Angie has various skills such as utilizing a VNS monitor for seizures, follow protocols for fall prevention, to maintain skin integrity, manage exceptional emotional outbursts, and support to eat a healthy well-balanced meal with diet modifications.

The most meaningful part of Angie’s job has been to see individuals happy when they are having a good day. She likes to hear positive feedback not only from the individual in her service but from others when it shows how well they are taken care of.

Angie lives in a 4-bedroom, 1 bath house situated beside the emergency fire department with easy access in the event of a natural disaster. The home has off-street parking, a front porch, a deck, and a large yard. There is a nice sized living room, an eat in kitchen, and the bathroom has a step-in shower equipped with grab bars and non-slip mats. The home also has a washer and a dryer.
