Wall Star Centers – Day Support in Virginia

Day Support Program for Adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities in Virginia

Group Day Supports are provided to adults aged 18 and older. Wall Residences offers this program at our Wall Star Centers, which are designed to create an atmosphere where adults with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities can interact with their peers and community members. Group Day Support involves training, assistance, supports, and specialized supervision in the acquisition, retention, or improvement of self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills. Wall Residences Group Day Support programs strive to provide each individual the opportunity to engage with peers and in their local communities through volunteering, skill acquisition, social skills development, and building of safe community connections.

A Day at the Wall Star Center

Group Day Support provides a wide variety of opportunities for individuals to build relationships within the center setting as well as their local communities. Activities are conducted in a center-based and community-based format, with the individual having the choice and opportunity to participate in both. Services are offered in larger group settings within the center and in smaller groups when venturing into the community. Group Day Support services are provided based on the needs and preferences of the individual seeking services and under the direction of the WRAP Coordinator, Day Support Program Manager, and Direct Support Professionals involved.

The activity schedule for each person is individualized based on their personal preferences, with the Center operating Monday through Friday, from 8am to 4pm. The individual participates in the development of their plan and schedule. Transportation can be arranged to facilitate the individual’s ability to participate via our sister company, Wall Connections.

It is great for my daughter to be with peers her own age (at the Wall Star Center), participating in life skills and being out in the community. The most important thing to me is Chelsea gets to be herself without worrying about anybody else and I know she is safe.
