Torwon Mitchell brings a unique blend of professional and personal experience to the role of a provider with a career as a federal employee and 16+ years of hands-on experience caring for children and adults with autism. Deljuan Mitchell brings over two decades of wealth of knowledge and experience as a pastor, teacher, and coach as she cares and provides support throughout the community.
Torwon and Deljuan have developed a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Further extending their commitment to the community, they established a non-profit organization named the Inclusion Ministry, dedicated to supporting those with diverse needs. They lead a congregation that places a strong emphasis on serving the special needs community, demonstrating a profound commitment to inclusion and support.
They cherish their time together as a family, often engaging in activities that support and uplift the special needs community. Their home is a hub of love, learning, and leisure, reflecting Torwon’s belief in creating inclusive and nurturing environments. Torwon and Deljuan have first-hand experience in supporting individuals with special needs through non-profit work and personal life, particularly in caring for their child with autism. This experience has equipped them with a deep understanding of the personalized care and attention required to support those with unique challenges.
When asked why they were interested in becoming a provider, they stated: “Our passion is to serve and uplift those in need, offering not just a helping hand, but a supportive community. We believe in the power of inclusion, understanding, and compassion. Being providers allows us to extend our family’s love and support to those who need it most, making every day a meaningful journey towards a more inclusive world.”
The Mitchell residence is a spacious 5-bedroom home that includes a separate kitchen and living space designed for the comfort and independence of individuals in care. The home is shared with their two sons. The family values inclusivity, support, and understanding, creating a welcoming environment for everyone who enters their home. The home also features a professional outdoor basketball court, providing ample opportunities for leisure and physical activity.
