Doug and Kathy-Jo Hansen live in the Check area of Floyd County. Their home is a 120 year old, fully updated, 2- story farmhouse with 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with all accommodations being on the first floor. The home is situated on a very peaceful 13 acres of pasture land and woods all at the far end of a cul de sac. The home includes a hammock, a front porch and a back deck for relaxing.
The Hansens have 3 grown children ages 37, 34, and 30 as well as 2 grandsons; 16 years old and 2 years old, all living either out of town or out of state but who do enjoy visiting whenever possible. Also part of their family is Molly their 7 year old black lab who honestly thinks she is a lap dog.
Doug and Kathy-Jo enjoy “dinner and a movie”, listening to all genres of music, watching sporting events, cooking/grilling, gardening, camping, fishing, canoeing, traveling/ road trips, and playing yard games with their family.
Serving others is the life’s work of this couple. Doug holds a BS in Special Education and has been supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities since the mid 1980’s. He currently works for New River Valley Community Services where he has been employed for 25 years. Kathy-Jo holds multiple degrees in Human Services, an MA in Family Counseling and an Ed.S. in Special Education and has extensive experience supporting individuals with every type of disability. She has been an LPN for close to 40 years and currently works for Wall Residences in nursing services.
We currently have an opening in our home and look forward to not only meeting you but welcoming you to our family.
