Kim and Mike Story have three adult children and three grandchildren. As a mother, Kim has gained the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a residential service with the appropriate patience, nurturing and care. The family offers assistance and encouragement to the individuals they currently support, with lots of opportunity for self-expression. The family has a positive attitude and is comfortable with opening their home to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Storys have been residential service providers with Wall Residences for 10 years and have over 15 years of experience working with individuals with cognitive and medical disabilities. Kim has five years of medical experience including three years of nursing school and working in the medical field.
They live in a two-level home on three acres in a quiet neighborhood in Madison Heights. The home has numerous rooms with plenty of space to support individuals comfortably. The main level has one bedroom that offers privacy and comfort for one individual. There is a large yard with a fenced-in tennis court and pool. Nearby are shopping, dining, a library, churches, the YMCA, volunteer activities, and many other community activities.
The Story family is close-knit family and active in the community. They love animals and like taking vacations which include frequent trips to Smith Mountain Lake. Kim and Mike also enjoy family gatherings, attending sporting events, and church activities. An individual joining this active family atmosphere will have many opportunities to take part in activities in the community. This service is person centered and family based, with a focus on each person’s individuality.
The Storys currently support two individuals and would like to welcome another individual into their home to become a member of their household. They look forward to meeting you.
