Stuart and Distarti Whitehead live in Amelia County with their daughter Diane (15) in a quiet, friendly, rural neighborhood. Their home is a one-floor rancher with four bedrooms, 3 ½ baths, office/computer room, dining room, living room, and a large family room. The house has a large deck and front porch with seating. There is ample outdoor space for summer barbecues, gardening, and outside activities. Their vacancy is currently for one individual; with the possibility of expanding in the near future. The home is wheelchair accessible.
Distarti has been a nurse for over 25 years and has experience serving individuals with various medical conditions, special needs, and intellectual disabilities. Stuart is a retired law enforcement professional who also has experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
The Whitehead’s are active church members and attend church weekly, enjoy gardening (they grow their own fruits and vegetables), fishing, bowling, shopping, going to the movies, going to museums, are members at the YMCA during summer months, engage in indoor physical activities, and attend community and school activities.
The Whitehead’s are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and loving home environment where the individual can grow to their fullest potential. They will work with each individual at their own pace to provide assistance with bathing, grooming, feeding, dressing, laundry, shopping, and transportation to medical appointments and activities.
Currently, the Whitehead’s have one female client and have a vacancy for another individual to join their family. The individual will have their own room and can decorate it as they choose.
