Trudi Mardian and Michael Derr – Roanoke

Greetings!  We are Trudi and Michael, and we can’t wait to invite you into our home and our life. To give you an idea about us so you know what to expect when living with us, here’s some of what we have on offer.  Firstly, we’ve been working for Wall Residences for almost 4 years as Providers and just over a year as back-up workers. We value and appreciate doing both.

We have one bedroom to share, and it’s now available. It’s incredibly spacious being 12′ x 12′ with 9.5′ ceilings. Your future room is part of a two-story, 100 year old Victorian beauty that we’ve renovated over the years. It has all the charm and warmth of its heritage while also being modernized with contemporary comforts – including central heating for those cooler months. Overall, there are 3 bedrooms upstairs with a full bath and full laundry down the hall. There’s a second full bath downstairs along with two sitting rooms and a wraparound porch perfect for relaxing when the sun is shining or for watching the sunset over Mill Mountain and the Star.

Our home is located in the heritage district of Roanoke City – Old Southwest. It’s walking distance to Roanoke’s main Fire Department and Rescue Squad, the public library and Downtown Roanoke with all of its delightful shops, cafes and markets. Here at home, we have a neighborhood Community Garden just outside our side porch, and also have fresh eggs daily from the chickens we keep in our backyard. They, along with our cat, Odin, are a part of the family.

Now that you have an idea about the space and what’s available therein, this is just a bit about us. Trudi runs her own business and Michael is semi-retired. Being active in our community, we find pleasure working in a Community Garden, spending time in nature along the Blue Ridge Parkway and love to share our life with our friends and family – including visiting folks outside the state. We both enjoy the adventure of a day-trip, mini break or traveling for longer periods. High on the list of our favorite travel experiences we love a good beach, going on cruises, visiting cities with museums, and have a soft spot for Disney World.
