Amy Braswell brings over 20 years of experience in the field of Developmental Services to her position as Quality Assurance Coordinator to Wall Residences. Amy started her career as a paraprofessional in the schools before becoming a direct support professional for a group home operated by a Community Services Board as she worked to graduate from the University of Mary Washington. Following graduation, she was hired as a group home manager for a different CSB where she led a team for 5 years before joining Wall Residences as a Program Manager. Later, she was promoted to Senior Program Manager before joining the Community Resource Consultant team at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, leading their Provider Team of CRCs throughout the Commonwealth. Amy was happy to return to her Wall family in September 2024 as Quality Assurance Coordinator. Other significant career highlights include serving on the boards of the Arc of Rappahannock and the Arc of Virginia, being a Person Centered Thinking trainer, endorsed through the Learning Community for Person Centered Practices, since 2012, and serving on the Virginia Person Centered Practices Leadership Team for the same amount of time.

Melody has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Ferrum College. She has 7 years of experience supporting children and adolescents in school settings for intensive behavioral treatment, and over 7 years of experience supporting adults with mental health, intellectual/development disabilities, and dual diagnoses. She will be supporting services in the Central Virginia area. Melody has a true passion to support and advocate for all people to live full and meaningful lives filled with respect, dignity, choice, love and hopefully lots of laughter along the way.

Joey graduated from James Madison University with a BSA in Studio Art. During her time at JMU, she studied Art Therapy and interned at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg before being hired as their Life Enrichment Coordinator. After spending four years at VMRC she took a position with The Colonnades in Charlottesville as their Activities and Volunteer Coordinator. She is currently finishing a MSHHS in Psychology with University of the Rockies after which she plans to pursue a PhD in Psychology. She is also a certified Validation Worker, aromatherapist, and Virtual Dementia leader.

Amanda has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Radford University, a master of arts in teaching from Hollins University and a master of science in educational leadership from Radford University. She has 16 years of experience in public education as a teacher and administrator. Amanda most recently worked as a residential program manager where she gained experience in direct care supports, case management, and community engagement planning. She is excited to continue her service to those with developmental disabilities with Wall Residences.

Julie has been a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) since 1994, having received a BS in Music Therapy SUNY Fredonia and an MS in Music Therapy from Radford University. Julie has served on interdisciplinary teams as a Music Therapist in an inpatient psychiatric setting with adults and older adults, a public-school setting with children with a wide range of special needs, and in private practice. She has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Radford University and has supervised dozens of Music Therapy students and interns in their clinical practice settings for the past 25 years. Julie has also served on state, regional, and national Music Therapy boards, committees, and task forces. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Human Development from Radford University. She is honored to be a part of the Wall Residences team as a Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Western Region of Virginia.

Elizabeth serves the Culpeper area with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Mary Washington and comes to us from Goodwill Industries where she was an employment specialist providing vocational supports to individuals with the most severe intellectual disabilities. Her experience includes providing traditional and non-traditional counseling, direct care and supports.

Amanda has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lynchburg College and was a certified Elementary Special Education teacher for 9 years, serving children in the areas of learning difficulties, ASD, and intellectual disabilities. She has 15 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities in the elementary and high school, residential care, and community settings. Amanda enjoys supporting others with gaining independence, improving self-determination, and relationship building in the community.
